此印青玉质，扁方体，行龙钮，八思巴文，朱文九叠体，印文为“统领释教大元国师之印”，配有红色丝绶带。据有关文献记载，元代各朝均设有国师，负责建寺、讲经、禳灾、祈福。他们大多为吐蕃高僧，其中又以萨迦派居多，由皇帝封赐，佩玉印。此印时代当在１２７０年之后，为元代皇帝所颂授。
This seal,tied with red silk ribbon and made of green jade,in a flat square shape topped with a flyihg dragon knob． The inscription reads"State Tutor of the great Yuan dynasty,Leader of the Buddhist Faith beneath the sky"．According to historical records,during the Yuan dynasty,the State Tutor could be found in every reign． They were in charge of building temples,lecturing on Buddhism,praying for happiness and holding ceremonies to avoid disasters．Most of them were eninent monks of Tubo and belonged to Sa-skya Sect．They were conferrde the by teh Emperor who bestowed jade seals upon them．The Yuan Emperor bestowed this seal after the year １２７０．
